RECOMMENDATION: The All New Adventures Of Us - Best Loved Goodnight Tales (2008)

Another great discovery but not recent because This disk has 2 years old old. The septet Norhampton English called The All New Adventures Of Us (also known as TANAOU ) got in 2008 this debut album 'Best Loved Goodnight Tales ", a marvel of those who both currently scarce . Very negative surprise that a great album like this has happened so and so unnoticed in the music world, even in an area indie. Frankly inexplicable because this album gives a thousand kicks to many albums and groups who are worshiping in the indie world and of questionable quality just because of sound different or weird.

In "Best Loved Goodnight Tales " find an excellent medley of pop and folk songs, bright and cheerful with epic rock themes and more emotional and calm, great choruses and vocal harmonies, with a wealth of sounds impressive, excellent workmanship and even a string ensemble and wind. For recording the band was 1 years locked in a recording studio in northern Sweden , totally isolated and in full contact with nature and the harsh environmental conditions in the area.

The British origin of these guys are surprised because their sound is more like the American indie band especially for its folk touch, the resemblance at times with bands like Death Cab For Cutie and The Decemberists may be obvious, but leave it at that, there's a lot more. His playing epic songs is really extraordinary, and show bands massive flag made this sound like Coldplay and Muse not fill stadiums for more than their product is better, but rather the opposite. Feel bad that these guys are left without public recognition after a great album, it will be for a few enjoy with relish even with nearly 2 years late, the pity is that we have to discover your work by accident but that at bottom is bad news because sometimes those are the best discs and that most enjoy, no doubt.

Let's review the issues of this "Best Loved Goodnight Tales "

1. A Good Liar Is A Good Storyteller: after this great title is a beautiful song that starts with beautiful piano notes to finish exploding in a bright, cheerful and upbeat pop song. Great opener for an album that begins with first gay issues.
2. Firetruck (Doki Doki): another topic optimistic that all the winds have much prominence. Very folk and pop sounds to The Decemberists.
3. "Me Me Me" Said The Kite-Eating Tree, As He Took Breakfast From Little Katy extraordinary pop song, has absolutely all the ingredients you need a good pop song: happiness, beautiful, dreamy melody dream-pop, choirs humming, pegadez, some forcefulness and good guitars. The only thing missing is direct and concise title, in this case the opposite, I bet it's not a coincidence.
4. St. Crispin's Got Our Backs: continue to dream-pop territory but for the first time the epic, especially towards the end of the topic. Nice theme, very bright.
5. Forever 45 : great track somewhere between power-pop and dream-pop , was one of the singles from the album. Good vocal harmonies, very catchy, the most mainstream entire disc.
6. The Art Of The High-Five: his playing folk unthinkable non-American origin of these guys. It reminds us very positively this song to Arcade Fire. Continuing the dream-pop environment , good vocals, the joy of their tunes, but here with an epic touch a little more pronounced. Great song, best on the disc.
7. Löftets Grands / New Year Outro: total change of pace. In Löftets Grands pop and disappear completely happy to enter into a territory in a calm start, moving (helped by the violins), introspective and almost minimalist is not at all a long and pointless outpost (quite the contrary) that the issue eventually became a crescendo epic impressive, the guitars suddenly explode with a great background violins. They really are 2 tracks, as the last 2 minutes called New Year Outro is almost a side issue, which is also instrumental only pure epic with only guitar and a beautiful piano and xylophone melody. The best of album.
8. Medicine: sufficiently close to Death Cab For Cutie. Pretty epic, blunt end, good and powerful percussion, good guitar and again the wind and string ensembles reappear.
9. The Wide-Eyed Led Us Home: poppy theme relaxed, light, cheerful and calm in appearance, but with touches of power-pop towards the end they give a good rhythm and forcefulness.
10. Perfectly Imperfect: beautiful, minimalist and semi-acoustic emotive issue with the help of xylophone, singing a duet with female vocalist of the group. At the end enter the string ensemble with violin and piano to make the song sublime.
11. Hold On: epic final explosion of the album, with almost 14 minutes of issue. And begins with powerful guitars start to warn where the paths go, but suddenly go quiet for paving the way for the final big bang increcendo in the great ecstasy of the guitars and percussion that will delight lovers of post-rock and epic. After the big bang sound, a xylophone notes and a long semisilencio induced, a new issue on a basis of electronic and electro touch may remind us The Postal Service, but is only an introduction to a strong and lively final power-pop.

FINAL NOTE: 8'75.
